golden globes: fashion

and yes, i’m a little late in putting the photos of the red carpet up. i’ve had a hectic week with work, my mom being in hospital and trying to rearrange flights schedules and holiday plans. there was a wide variety of beautiful, weird and straight-down ugly dress on the night. Here are some of them…

feather awards: caught on camera

one of the most celebrated events on south africa’s social calender… the annual gay awards, formally called the feather awards took place on thursday the 11th november at the venue in melrose, johannesburg. it’s a pity these award which are always feature flamboyount characters are broadcast on any channel for us to see. i’d love to see south africa’s “celebrity” gay community together and all dressed up beyond the ordinary…

but here are some of the winners of the night… the victors also make me raise an eyebrow because most of them aren’t even gay or lesbian or bi-sexual or even drag…

hottest chick of the year : claire mawisa [minnie dlamini / gail nkoana]

best styled female: bonang matheba [dineo ranaka / noni gasa]

diva extraordinaire: edith venter [thoko qoboza / noleen sanqu]

glamour at the emmy’s red carpet

so the 63rd primetime (television) awards took place last night and as you know… it was glamourous affair. i was disappointed at some of the dress choice but i did have a few favourites like project runway’s heidi klum (i think i’m biased towards her) fashion police’s kelly osbourne and glee’s amber riley.

and in terms of the winners, modern family hit a home-run scooping five statuettes at the award cermony with the biggest win being for the most outstanding comedy series. the drama series went to mad men. my favourite director, martin scorcese, also managed to bring home the gold for boardwalk empire. i was too thrilled about that.   for a full list of winners, visit entertainment weekly’s site: http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/09/18/emmys-2011-winners-list/?iid=rcfooter-tv-emmys%3A+mod+fam%2C+mad+men+win

teargas scores a bet nomination

we have to give it up to our boys… American music channel, BET, has nominated the hip-hop trio for this year’s awards show taking place at the end of june. teargas has been nominated in the ‘best international act: africa’. things are looking up for this group. this is testament that hard work really pays off. we’ll definitely be rooting the boys on when the awards are hosted in los angeles on june 26th. most of us will have to find folk with top-tv to see it live (this might be a little difficult).

and leading on the nomination board is, chris breezy with 6 nods. this kid being doing it big lately. lil wayne is right behind with 5, followed by ‘ye west and drake – each nominated in categories. it has been confirmed it that short funny man, kevin hart, will be hosting (the short black guy from that soul plane movie) the award show. ms keys (aka mrs beatz) will be one of the performers on the night. the full list of nominees and the categories is below:
